Houston musicians perform a series of benefit concerts to raise awareness about Stop TxDOT I-45, an initiative that protests the potential expansion of I-45. The highway’s expansion could threaten to disrupt and displace residents in marginalized communities throughout Houston, from Independence Heights, East Downtown, to Third Ward, among others. The concerts have been organized by Alexandra Smither, soprano, and Austin Lewellen, bass.
